American oil tanker owner International Seaways announced that it has placed an order for two 75,000-dwt LR1 product oil tankers with K Shipbuilding (formerly STX Marine Shipbuilding) in South Korea.


International Seaways disclosed this order in its second-quarter financial report released on August 9. The two new ships will adopt LNG-ready design and be equipped with desulfurization devices. They are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2025, when they will join the company's Panamax International joint venture fleet. The total order price is US$115 million (approximately RMB 829 million).


This is the first LR1 product oil tanker order obtained by K Shipbuilding this year.
